Overview

The purpose of the University Faculty Training Grants (FPU) is to train doctoral candidates by funding pre-doctoral contracts, so that recipients can conduct the research necessary to submit a doctoral dissertation and, at the same time, acquire the university teaching skills required to join the higher education system.

The grants will fund the establishment of employment contracts—specifically, pre-doctoral contracts—as well as research stays at R&D centers and tuition fees associated with doctoral programs. In addition, funding will be provided for a postdoctoral orientation period following the award of the doctoral degree, for a maximum of twelve months within a four-year period, aimed at the professional development and specialization of research staff, provided that the degree is awarded during the grant’s implementation period.

The application for participation is submitted by the organization, which must include the names of the participants. Selection is based on a competitive process, and the criteria for evaluating applications are as follows:

1. Academic Record (0–75)

2. Quality and scientific and technical track record of the team that will carry out the project (0–25)

2.1 Scientific and Technical Background of the Thesis Advisor (0–10)

2.2. Scientific, technical, and educational context of the group in which the intervention will take place (0–15)

Objectives

Hiring will be conducted under a pre-doctoral contract, in accordance with current labor laws, Royal Decree 103/2019 of March 1, and the provisions of this call for applications, on a full-time basis, and may last up to four years from the date the successful candidates begin their positions.

The grants will cover the following items: a grant to finance the contracts, a grant to cover the cost of severance pay upon contract termination, and an additional grant to cover expenses related to stays at R&D centers and enrollment in doctoral programs.

Amount

– The grant to help finance the contract will be 32,500 euros per year.

– The grant to cover the cost of severance pay upon termination of the contract will be 3,350 euros, intended to cover any costs that may be incurred for this purpose during the grant period.

– The grant to cover expenses related to stays at R&D centers and tuition for doctoral programs will be 10,000 euros for the entire duration of the grant.
