The San Rafael Foundation of A Coruña is launching the Rafael Hervada Award for Biomedical Research to recognize the efforts of Spanish and international researchers in the field of biomedical sciences.
The specific theme for this year’s call for proposals is: Digital Transformation in Medicine
Awards will be given for original works in the form of articles (reviews, book chapters, and letters to the editor will not be accepted) or doctoral dissertations. Submissions may be published, in press, accepted, submitted for publication in any scientific journal, or in preparation. Submissions may be written in Galician, Spanish, or English.

Required documentation:
- Cover Letter from the Lead Author.
- Letter from the institution where the project was carried out.
- Letter from the director of the research group that carried out the project.
- Award Application, using the application form provided.
- A copy of the original work in one of the formats listed below:
- Printed on paper: shipped by mail.
- Digital .PDF format: sent via email.
- You may submit digitized photographs or videos.
- The scope of the work is open-ended.
Submission Deadline
Candidates wishing to be considered for the Award may submit their application, along with the works or studies they wish the jury to evaluate, no later than midnight on September 30, , 2025. Works not submitted by this date will not be considered by the jury.
