Call for Proposals Summary
The State Research Agency is offering 500 grants to encourage young people who hold a Ph.D. to complete theirpostdoctoral research training at Spanish R&D centers.
The total budget for this call for proposals is €60,000,000, of which the following amounts will be allocated for each grant:
- €35,000 per year to co-finance the salaries and employer Social Security contributions of the hired individuals (the minimum compensation to be received by the hired individuals will be €30,600 per year).
- €15,000 for expenses directly related to the research activities of the person hired.
Requirements
Requirements for applicants:
- Public Research Organizations.
- Public universities, their university institutes, and private universities with proven capacity and experience in R&D&I.
- Public and private nonprofit healthcare organizations and institutions that are affiliated with or have agreements with the National Health System and that conduct R&D&I activities.
- Accredited health research institutes.
- State-level Technology Centers and State-level Technology Innovation Support Centers.
- Other public R&D&I centers, with their own legal personality, whose articles of incorporation, governing regulations, or corporate purpose specify R&D&I as their primary activity.
- Private, nonprofit R&D&I centers with their own legal personality that define R&D&I as their primary activity in their bylaws, in the regulations governing them, or in their corporate purpose.
- Public agricultural and food research centers of the Autonomous Communities, which are part of the INIA (CSIC)-CCAA system.
Applications must be submitted by the R&D center to which the participating individual’s supervising researcher is affiliated, and the following requirements must be met:
- A single person may be listed as a participant in only one R&D Center application.
- A supervising researcher may only be listed as such on a single application. A supervisor is defined as the person who will be directly responsible for supervising and guiding the participant’s professional development.
Participants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a doctoral degree obtained on a date between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025. The earlier deadline of January 1, 2024, may be extended if, between the date the doctoral degree was awarded and the deadline for completing the application form, any of the situations indicated in the call for applications (temporary disability, leave for pregnancy, childbirth, adoption, etc.) and that have affected research activity. For applicants participating in the category for individuals with disabilities, the date of obtaining the doctoral degree must fall between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025; extensions may also be granted for justified periods of inactivity.
- Apply to join an R&D center other than the one where you completed your pre-doctoral training.
- Not having submitted an application for the Ramón y Cajal grants, for the 2025 call for applications, by the deadline for submitting applications for these grants.
- Not having been a recipient of funding from previous calls for proposals under the Juan de la Cierva, Postdoctoral Training, Juan de la Cierva-Training, or Juan de la Cierva-Incorporation programs. A “recipient” of these programs is defined as any person named in any of the award decisions from previous calls for proposals for these programs, regardless of whether or not they ultimately joined the R&D Center.
- If you were an applicant in the 2024 call for Juan de
la Cierva grants and your application received a score of 50 points or higher,
Compatibility
Contracts funded through the grants covered by this resolution shall be incompatible with the existence of any other employment contract on the part of the hired personnel.
Individuals hired under these grants may provide supplementary assistance with teaching tasks, either at their own institution or at others, for a maximum of 100 hours per year, at their own request and with the approval of their institution, while complying, where applicable, with current regulations regarding conflicts of interest for personnel employed by public administrations.
Deadlines
The deadline for participants to complete and sign the electronic application form will be from November 25, 2025, to December 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Subsequently, applications for participation will be submitted by the R&D centers through the online application, which will be available starting November 25, 2025, through December 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
