Purpose and Scope
This Call for Proposals supports research as a means of deepening our understanding and improving the quality of life for the people who make up our society.
Through the Ignacio H. de Larramendi Research Grants, Fundación MAPFRE supports projects carried out by individual researchers or research teams in academic and professional settings, whether they conduct their work independently or within the framework of universities, hospitals, companies, or research centers with which they are affiliated, and whose research topic is related tohealth promotion orinsurance and social welfare.
Funding
The maximum gross amount for each grant will be as follows:
— Health Promotion: 30,000 euros.
— Insurance and Social Security: 15,000 euros.
The grant amount will be disbursed during the course of the research as follows:
— 20% upon signing the grant acceptance protocol,
— 60% distributed in two payments of 30% of the total each, to be made at the end of the fourth and eighth months following the signing of said agreement, respectively,
— And the remaining 20%, upon submission of the final report, the financial report, and a two- to four-page summary of the work.
Duration of the assistance
The grant period will be one calendar year from the date of its acceptance and formalization in the corresponding document (Acceptance Protocol), which is accepted and agreed to upon submission of the application.
Project Themes
The thematic areas that research projects should address are as follows:
Health Promotion
— Strategies and education for changing habits: obesity prevention, promotion of physical activity, and emotional well-being (including the appropriate use of new technologies).
— Training in emergency procedures for the general public.
— Assessment of bodily injury: evaluation of the consequences of an event (traumatic or accidental, medical malpractice, assault, or illness) on an individual’s health and the impact it will have on essential activities of daily living and other specific activities related to personal development (emotional distress, loss of quality of life).
— Healthcare management: quality and clinical safety.
— Longevity and the Influence of Lifestyles.
Insurance and Social Security
— Insurance.
— Risk Management: Emerging Risks.
— New technologies in the insurance industry.
— Social Security: pensions, savings, investment, asset liquidation, and the senior economy (economics of longevity).
Submission of Applications
To be eligible for funding, interested principal investigators must visit the website www.fundacionmapfre.org/ayudas2025 to submit their application online within the deadline specified in the call for proposals guidelines, and must attach the following documentation:
1. Professional curriculum vitae of the principal investigator and, where applicable, of the other members of the research team. The maximum length of the curriculum vitae is
five pages per team member.
2. A detailed description of the research project, which must be original and unpublished, using the template available at www.fundacionmapfre.org/ayudas2025. The document should be 8 to 12 pages long and formatted in 12-point Arial font.
The proposal must include the following sections:
– Project Summary – Abstract (10 lines).
– Project Objectives and Justification.
– Research Methodology.
– Experience and Qualifications of the Principal Investigator and other members of the research team, if applicable.
– Detailed budget and timeline. The budget submitted must include all applicable expenses and costs, expressly including any fees or charges that may be required by the institution to which the principal investigator belongs, if applicable.

Application Deadline
The period for applying and submitting documentation online to apply for these grants begins on June 20 and ends on October 20, 2025 (until 11:59 p.m., Spanish time, UTC+2).
