The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2027 Distinguished Investigator (DI) Grant. This program supports established basic and clinical researchers with a strong track record of research achievements to pursue highly innovative projects aimed at improving the understanding and treatment of severe mental illness and other brain and behavioral disorders. If successful, these grants could lead to further funding from other sources. These grants are among the most competitive in mental health research and demonstrate the power of investigator-initiated research to generate new and creative ideas.
Eligible areas include addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, and suicide prevention.
The available funding is up to $100,000 for a one-year period.

Requirements:
- Applicants must be a full professor (or equivalent) and maintain peer-reviewed, competitively funded scientific programs.
- Applicants may not receive the award a second time.
