Description
The hna Foundation is announcing the sixth edition of the Scientific Health Research Award, which is intended to provide funding for two research projects—this time focusing on Alzheimer’s disease, specifically advances in gene therapy.
Purpose
Fundación hna is holding the sixth edition of its open call for biomedical and health research projects, with the goal of identifying and promoting the most promising initiatives in clinical research that demonstrate the highest scientific excellence and have the greatest potential value and social impact. Submitted projects must fall within the following thematic area:
“Alzheimer’s Disease Research Projects: Advances in Gene Therapies.“
Applicants
For this call for proposals, project proposals—with a minimum duration of 1 year and a maximum of 2 years—must be individual and original; that is, they must be submitted by a single research organization (the applicant organization) and must not be a continuation of another project.
Projects led by researchers from nonprofit research organizations located in Spain are eligible to apply for this call for proposals.
The principal investigator from the applicant organization must also be the project leader— the person who submits the proposal in response to the call for proposals and who oversees the overall implementation of the project.
Staffing
This edition will feature two winning projects. Funding for the first-place prize will total up to 100,000 euros, and for the second-place prize, the amount will be up to 50,000 euros.
Submission Deadline
The deadline for submitting applications and supporting documents begins with the publication of this call for applications and ends on March 31, 2026.
Only applications submitted by email and accompanied by the correct documentation, as specified in the call for applications, will be accepted.
Applications
All applications must be accompanied by the the following documents:
- Project report, based on the downloadable template.
- Resumes for each member of the research team, using the downloadable template.
- A copy of the call for proposals, bearing the signature of the principal investigator or the head of the research organization indicating acceptance.
- A letter from the chair of the Ethics and Clinical Trials Committee or, where applicable, the chair of the Research Committee at the institution where the project will be conducted. If the type of research requires it, a report from the relevant animal research committee will also be necessary.
- Copy of the principal investigator’s tax identification number.
- Copy of the tax identification number (NIF ) of the investigative agency.
In addition, the project proposal must include a detailed breakdown of the estimated amount of funding requested, specifying the funding for inventory items and consumables to be used.
If the research organization deducts any amount for indirect costs, that amount may not exceed 5% of the total amount of the grant awarded.
