Purpose
The purpose of the Dr. Francisco España Fellowship is to promote scientific research in hemostasis and thrombosis by awarding a fellowship to emerging research groups to conduct research in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis.
Requirements
- Original research projects that represent a new line of research in Hemostasis and Thrombosis are eligible for the Dr. Francisco España Scholarship.
- The scientific research paper must address a topic related to the field of Hemostasis and Thrombosis and be conducted by researchers organized as an emerging research group.
- An emerging research group is defined as a group of researchers working in a specific area of hemostasis or thrombosis, in which at least each individual researcher or the research group as a whole has published two scientific articles in the last five years.
- The emerging research group must consist of at least three researchers working in the field of hemostasis or thrombosis.
- Applicants must demonstrate that at least two-thirds of the group’s researchers—including, in all cases, the principal investigator—are members of SETH and are current with their membership dues. The principal investigator of the group must be a member of SETH at the time of application and for the entire duration of the grant.
- The principal investigator of the group must be under 45 years of age.
- The group’s principal investigator may not be a trainee or a fellow.
- The principal investigator of the emerging research group may not have an active research project that has received funding under the FETH’s “Grants and Awards” program as a researcher at the time of application or during the entire grant period.
- Members of the research team who have already received the Dr. Francisco España Fellowship in a previous call for applications may not apply in the next two calls for the Dr. Francisco España Fellowship.
- An emerging research group whose principal investigator belongs to a group that has received an award in any of the last three López Borrasca Award calls for proposals is not eligible to apply for the Dr. Francisco España Fellowship.
- Applications for the Dr. Francisco España Fellowship must specifically list the members of the emerging group who are SETH members and those who are not, in accordance with the fellowship requirements.
- If the emerging research group withdraws after accepting the grant, it will be subject to a penalty for the next two calls for applications for any award or grant sponsored by the FETH. None of the members of the group that rejected the award after accepting it may apply for any FETH awards or grants in the next two application rounds.
