The call for applications for financial grants to support research projects on addiction carried out by public or private nonprofit entities, on a competitive basis, in accordance with the provisions of the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology, and Innovation 2021–2027, the Strategic Action on Health of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical, and Innovation Research 2021–2023, and the current National Strategy on Addictions, available on the website of the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan

Research projects funded by these grants may be submitted as single-year projects or
two installments. If, upon evaluation of the annual installments for multi-year projects, it is determined that dividing the project into two annual installments
is unnecessary, the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan
may reduce the number of annual installments on its own initiative.

Funding is available for these purposes under items 781 and 751 of Program 231A, “
’s National Plan on Drugs,” in the General State Budget extended through 2025, up to an initial amount
of 609,790 euros , to be distributed over two installments, the first with an initial allocation of 182,937 euros and the second with 426,853 euros.

Projects must include objectives that align with the current National Strategy on Addictions
, and must specify the specific areas of action to which the project pertains.

Regardless of the areas of action and research areas covered by the project,
the following will be considered priority lines of action in this call for proposals:

  • Evaluation of policies, interventions, and programs related to prevention, treatment, and social reintegration in the areas of alcohol, illegal drugs, medications with abuse potential, and behavioral addictions.
  • Prevention and reduction of harm caused by cannabis and cannabinoids, with a special focus on adolescents and young people.
  • New tools for detecting and monitoring the determinants of addiction, as well as in the field of epidemiology (detection of psychoactive substances in wastewater and injection equipment, improved toxicological identification of new substances and patterns in the emergency departments of the National Health System, etc.).
  • Identification of factors influencing the supply of and demand for drug and addiction treatment services and resources, from a regional and population-based perspective.
  • Issues related to addiction treatment and its prognosis in specific population groups (older adults, women, migrants, people who engage in chemsex, methamphetamine users, LGBTIQ+ individuals, homeless people, people with disabilities, etc.).
  • Acute morbidity, injuries, and violence associated with the use of cannabis and other psychoactive substances, as well as other addictions.

and may under no circumstances be subject to correction.

for Clinical Trials, or the appropriate Ethics Committee, or proof that such a report has been requested at
