SUMMARY:Ministry of Health. 2025 Call for Proposals: Grants for the Development of Research Projects on Addictions
DESCRIPTION:Features\nThe call for applications for financial grants to support research projects on addiction carried out by public or private nonprofit entities\, on a competitive basis\, in accordance with the provisions of the Spanish Strategy for Science\, Technology\, and Innovation 2021–2027\, the Strategic Action on Health of the State Plan for Scientific\, Technical\, and Innovation Research 2021–2023\, and the current National Strategy on Addictions\, available on the website of the   Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan \nResearch projects funded by these grants may be submitted as single-year projects or\ntwo installments. If\, upon evaluation of the annual installments for multi-year projects\, it is determined that dividing the project into two annual installments\nis unnecessary\, the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan\nmay reduce the number of annual installments on its own initiative.  \nFunding is available for these purposes under items 781 and 751 of Program 231A\, “\n’s National Plan on Drugs\,” in the General State Budget extended through 2025\, up to an initial amount\nof 609\,790 euros \, to be distributed over two installments\, the first with an initial allocation of 182\,937 euros and the second with 426\,853 euros. \nProjects must include objectives that align with the current National Strategy on Addictions\n\, and must specify the specific areas of action to which the project pertains. \nRegardless of the areas of action and research areas covered by the project\,\nthe following will be considered priority lines of action in this call for proposals: \n\n  Evaluation of policies\, interventions\, and programs related to prevention\, treatment\, and social reintegration in the areas of alcohol\, illegal drugs\, medications with abuse potential\, and behavioral addictions.\nPrevention and reduction of harm caused by cannabis and cannabinoids\, with a special focus on adolescents and young people.\nNew tools for detecting and monitoring the determinants of addiction\, as well as in the field of epidemiology (detection of psychoactive substances in wastewater and injection equipment\, improved toxicological identification of new substances and patterns in the emergency departments of the National Health System\, etc.).\nIdentification of factors influencing the supply of and demand for drug and addiction treatment services and resources\, from a regional and population-based perspective.\nIssues related to addiction treatment and its prognosis in specific population groups (older adults\, women\, migrants\, people who engage in chemsex\, methamphetamine users\, LGBTIQ+ individuals\, homeless people\, people with disabilities\, etc.).\nAcute morbidity\, injuries\, and violence associated with the use of cannabis and other psychoactive substances\, as well as other addictions.\n\n  \nHow to apply:\n\nAppendix I: Grant Application. It must be signed by the person who holds legal representation\nfor the applicant entity. The application must fall within a priority area and priority line\nin accordance with Article 5 of this resolution. Annex I of the application is generated\nautomatically upon completion within the SIGES platform.   \nAppendix II: Research project for which funding is requested\, signed by the principal investigator\n. Appendix II of the application is generated automatically upon\ncompletion within the SIGES platform. Due to the character limit of the Annex in the application\n\, applicants may\, subject to a 10MB file size limit per file\, supplement the project\nwith supporting documentation which\, like Annex II\, must be submitted within the application period\nand may under no circumstances be subject to correction.  \nCurriculum vitae for each member of the research team\, including the principal investigator\, detailing the contributions that demonstrate their qualifications to carry out the proposed project. Only resumes in standardized formats will be accepted\, including the option of an abbreviated resume\, in accordance with the resume templates provided by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology). Additionally\, the team members must provide their identification codes: WoS ID\, ORCID ID\, or Scopus ID\, as well as the code corresponding to the research field in which they work\, in accordance with UNESCO’s International Nomenclature for Science and Technology Fields.  \nSpecific documentation required based on the characteristics of the submitted project (see call for proposals)\nA report from the applicant institution’s Research Committee confirming the feasibility of the research project in all respects. This report must be signed\nelectronically by the person serving as chair or in a similar capacity on said committee. \nWhere applicable\, a favorable report from the Research Ethics Committee\, the Ethics Committee of the\nfor Clinical Trials\, or the appropriate Ethics Committee\, or proof that such a report has been requested at\nand is currently being processed. In the latter case\, submission of the\ncorresponding favorable report will be a requirement for the approval of the first annual installment of the\nfunding for the subsidized project. \nAppendix III. Authorization for the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan to access the national ID number of the person acting as the entity’s legal representative\, its tax address\, as well as to obtain information from the State Tax Administration Agency and the General Social Security Treasury regarding compliance with its obligations to those agencies in accordance with the grant model; or\, if such access is not authorized\, the corresponding original certificates must be attached. In any case\, the entity must have on hand the positive certificates issued by these agencies for the purpose of applying for grants\, in case they are requested. If the tax certification is issued by the Regional Tax Agencies\, this documentation must be provided by the interested party.   \nAppendix IV. Affidavit regarding the entity’s eligibility to receive public grants\, based on the template provided on the website of the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan \n\nRequirements:\n\nThe principal investigator must hold a Ph.D. In addition\, they must have a formal civil service\, statutory\, employment\, or contractual relationship with the applicant organization for at least the period between the time of application and the completion of the project\, which will be determined by the date on which the supporting documentation for the project was registered. \nProjects will not be accepted under this call for proposals if their principal investigators\, prior to the application deadline\, are already listed as such in another project previously funded by the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan and which is currently in the implementation phase\, including any extensions\, if applicable.\nThe remaining members of the research team\, who do not hold the status of principal investigator or\nprincipal investigator\, must have a formal civil service\, statutory\, employment\, or\ncontractual relationship with the applying institutions.\nNo member of the research team\, regardless of their employment relationship with the applicant organization\nor with any other organization\, may receive any compensation from the funded project.\n\n
