Purpose

The purpose of this call for proposals is for the Spanish Scleroderma Association (A.E.E.) to award grants to high-quality research projects on scleroderma conducted under the supervision of a principal investigator (PI).

The research project must have a clear impact on the quality of life of patients with scleroderma, and there must be a solid research foundation to support the hypothesis presented in the proposal.

The projects submitted must be carried out entirely in Spain.

Requirements

Any IP applying for this call must:

— Be affiliated with a public or private nonprofit organization in Spain that is qualified to conduct scientific research.

— Have at least two research articles published or accepted for publication as an author or co-author in a peer-reviewed scientific journal at the time of application. Publications dated after the application deadline will not be accepted.

Features of the Grant

This grant amounts to 22,000 euros gross and will be disbursed in two payments: 50% of the total amount upon award, and the remaining 50% upon submission of a preliminary report on the work completed to date.

— The award of this grant shall not preclude the recipient from receiving other public or private funding for the evaluated project. However, the existence of another source of funding will result in a penalty under the scoring criteria.

— Members of the Board of Directors or the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Scleroderma Association may not participate in this grant program as applicants or collaborators.

— The researcher must notify the A.E.E. of any cause of incompatibility.

Application Requirements and Content

— Applicants may submit only one proposal for this call for proposals. If the same project is submitted by different researchers, both applications will be rejected.

— If the applicant is not selected, he or she may resubmit an application in future calls for proposals, provided that changes have been made to the submitted project or to the laboratory where the project will be carried out, in accordance with the comments in the evaluation report.

The affidavit signed by the applicant, included in the scientific report, must indicate whether any other type of grant or prior funding from public or private sources has been obtained or requested in connection with the submitted proposal. If such information is clearly omitted during the selection, award, or monitoring process for the grant, the A.E.E. reserves the right to reject the application or, as the case may be, revoke the grant award and request the return of any funds disbursed.
