Features

The EASD Albert Renold Travel Fellowships enable scientists and clinicians to travel and stay at other institutions in order to learn specific techniques or clinical skills required for the advancement of their diabetes research project and not available at their home institution.

The home institution and/or the host institution must be based in Europe or a country associated with Europe (for a detailed list of countries, please see here); both must be nonprofit organizations, and each must be located in a different country. Applicants must be employed at their home institution during the term of the award.

The duration of the stay may be up to 3 months. The requested amount for each fellowship may be up to 10,000 euros.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be early-career scientists or clinicians who, as of January 1 of the year the fellowship is awarded, have completed their most recent degree (PhD, MSc, or MD) within the past 7 years. Eligibility may be extended for duly justified career breaks. Fellows may not hold a permanent appointment.
  • The home and/or host institution must be based in Europe or a country associated with Europe; both must be nonprofit organizations, and each must be located in a different country. Applicants must be employed at their home institution during the duration of the grant.
  • Successful applicants must travel within nine months of receiving the award.
  • Funds cannot be used to help pay for part of a longer stay.
  • Awardees may not receive a second fellowship within two years of receiving their award.
  • Applicants must be members of the EASD in good standing.
