The appointment was made official during the members’ meeting held as part of the 24th SOCEPA Congress, which took place in Salamanca from July 7 to 10.
Professor Pedro Fernández Soto, professor of Parasitology at the University of Salamanca (USAL) and a researcher with the e-INTRO (Infectious and Tropical Diseases) group at IBSAL, has been elected the new vice president of the Spanish Society of Parasitology (SOCEPA). The appointment was made official during the members’ assembly held as part of the society’s 24th Congress, which brought together experts in the field in Salamanca from July 7 to 10.
A conference marked by history and innovation
The Congress of the Spanish Society of Parasitology, which was part of the official activities marking the 500th anniversary of the School of Salamanca, was held at the Hospedería Fonseca and was attended by 300 participants.
Over the course of four days, researchers, faculty members, and professionals discussed the current challenges facing parasitology through a program that included plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, and workshops.
A new feature of this edition was that all scientific contributions were presented in electronic poster format and were defended orally by their authors, fostering the direct exchange of ideas and scientific discussion among attendees.
With the renewal of its board of directors and the appointment of Professor Pedro Fernández Soto as vice president, SOCEPA concludes a highly successful conference that solidifies Salamanca’s position as a premier venue for scientific excellence and interdisciplinary dialogue.
