Background

Among the missions and objectives of the FUCALHH is “the promotion, development, and dissemination of the specialty of Hematology and Hemotherapy in its clinical, educational, and research aspects, as well as the promotion of initiatives to facilitate training activities and improve the conditions for professional practice in the specialty” (FUCALHH Bylaws). In accordance with this premise, at the most recent meeting of the FUCALHH Board of Trustees, held on June 10, 2025, it was agreed to award four grants of 6,000 euros each to support research projects in the field of Hematology and Hemotherapy.

 

Objective

The purpose of this call for proposals is to promote and provide financial support to research groups to conduct clinical, basic, or translational studies in the field of Hematology and Hemotherapy.

 

Requirements

All research groups located in the Autonomous Community of Castile and León that propose research studies related to hematology and hemotherapy and that meet the following additional requirements are eligible to apply for this call for proposals.

Contact information for the principal investigator:
Must be a member of the Castile and León Association of Hematology and Hemotherapy and also meet one of the following requirements:
1. Physician specializing in Hematology and Hemotherapy.
2. Resident in Hematology and Hemotherapy starting in the second year of training.
3. A graduate with a degree in Biology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Veterinary Medicine who can demonstrate
a period of specific training in Hematology and Hemotherapy exceeding three years.
4. Applicants may submit only one project as principal investigator.

Contact Information for Research Group
1. The research will be conducted at any of the healthcare institutions in the Community of Castile and León, in the various Hematology and Hemotherapy departments, at the Castile and León Blood Donation Center (CHEMCYL), or at any of the associated healthcare research institutions.

Regarding the Research Project:
The project will be clinical, biological or clinical-biological in nature, will be related to Hematology and Hemotherapy and will be developed in any of the institutions referred to in section 2.2 of this call.

The deadline for submitting the research proposal is September 28 at 11:59 p.m .

Duration

The project will last for one year, starting on the date of notification of the decision regarding this call for proposals, and this period cannot be extended.

 

Staffing

The amount allocated to each research project will be 6,000 euros and may be combined with any other public or private funding. The Selection Committee may divide the total amount among several of the submitted projects if it deems them worthy of such funding.
