The Rare Diseases Research Program (PINERA) provides ongoing support for research in this area with the goal of making a scientific, clinical, and social impact on the rare disease community.

The purpose of this Call for Proposals is to award a grant to carry out a multicenter and multi-year carried out by coordinated multidisciplinary teams to gain new insights into any aspect of rare diseases.

 

Requirements:

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Research groups from healthcare or university institutions, public research organizations, or other publicly owned or public-private, nonprofit research centers in Spain that conduct their work at multiple sites throughout Spain.
  • They must submit a jointly coordinated project for this call for proposals, in which they may collaborate with foreign research groups.
  • One of the Principal Investigators (“PI”) who is a member of the Consortium will act as the Consortium’s representative and the Project Coordinator. The research institution to which the Scientific Coordinator belongs will be considered the “Coordinating Institution.”

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GRANT

  • An original, multicenter research project that has not received prior funding.
  • Project duration: 3 years (initial duration of one year, extendable annually for two additional consecutive years subject to a favorable evaluation by the Foundation’s Scientific Council).
  • Budget: 700,000 euros

 

Submission deadline.

The application will be submitted by the scientific coordinator, with the approval of the coordinating entity and the other members of the consortium; the scientific coordinator will serve as the person with ultimate responsibility for the research project by completing an online form provided for that purpose.

All documentation, duly completed, must be submitted within the application deadline, which ends on September 1, 2025. The application must be accompanied by the documents required in the call for applications.
