{"id":24956,"date":"2026-01-23T10:37:42","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T08:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibsal.es\/evento\/aes-2026-health-research-projects-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T10:37:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T08:37:42","slug":"aes-2026-health-research-projects-2026","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/ibsal.es\/en\/evento\/aes-2026-health-research-projects-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"AES 2026 &#8211; Health Research Projects 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"color: #003c8c;\">Purpose<\/h3>\n<p>Call for proposals for funding R&#038;D&#038;I projects in the health sector, as the primary source of support for research conducted within the National Health System (SNS) and at research centers affiliated with it.<\/p>\n<p>Funding will be provided for projects of proven quality whose main objectives are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The transfer and application of scientific and technical knowledge to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, as well as to support public health promotion activities and health services.<\/li>\n<li>To foster synergies, promote talent and employability, and strengthen the governance structures that bring together the scientific and technical capabilities of the National Health System\u2019s (SNS) healthcare centers.<\/li>\n<li>To encourage young researchers to contribute to knowledge generation by leading their first research project through a competitive public call for proposals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following <strong>types of projects<\/strong> may be submitted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Individual projects<\/strong>: submitted by an applicant organization and to be carried out by a research team led by one or two principal investigators (PI and Co-PI).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coordinated projects<\/strong>: consisting of two or more subprojects, which must adequately justify in the proposal the need for such coordination to address the proposed objectives, as well as the expected benefits of the coordination. Each subproject will have its own team and will be led by one or two principal investigators (PI and Co-PI). One of the projects will act as the coordinator, and its PI\u2014or both PIs, if applicable\u2014will be responsible for the project\u2019s implementation. Coordinated projects may be converted ex officio into individual projects if coordination is deemed unnecessary.   <\/li>\n<li><strong>Multicenter projects<\/strong>: conducted according to a single protocol at more than one site. In this type of project, one of the following options may be chosen:\n<ul>\n<li>Multicenter study with a single grant-receiving institution: Submit a single application for the institution affiliated with the person or persons serving as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), who will act as coordinators, with all collaborating researchers listed as part of the same team, regardless of the institution from which they participate.<\/li>\n<li>Multicenter study with multiple participating centers: Submit one application for each participating center, with one or two principal investigators as appropriate and one research team per application submitted. One of the projects will serve as the coordinator and will be responsible for scientific coordination and project monitoring. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"color: #003c8c;\">Requirements<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Requirements for applicants:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<p>The following legal entities, provided they conduct or manage R&#038;D&#038;I activities in biomedicine or in health sciences and technologies:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Health research institutes accredited by ministerial order (IIS).<\/li>\n<li>Public health entities and institutions with clinical assistance activities.<\/li>\n<li>Public health entities and institutions without a health activity license, but with demonstrable R+D+I activity in the area of knowledge of Public Health.<\/li>\n<li>Private healthcare entities and institutions that are licensed to provide healthcare services and are affiliated with or have agreements with the National Health System (SNS).<\/li>\n<li>The OPIs (Public Research Organizations).<\/li>\n<li>Public universities and private universities with proven R&#038;D capacity and activity.<\/li>\n<li>State-level technology centers and state-level centers for supporting technological innovation that are registered in the Registry of Centers established by Royal Decree 2093\/2008<\/li>\n<li>Other public R&#038;D, research and knowledge dissemination centers and research infrastructures, with their own legal personality, linked to or dependent on the General State Administration or the rest of the Public Administrations and their agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Public and private non-profit entities that carry out and\/or manage R&#038;D activities, generate scientific or technological knowledge or facilitate its application and transfer.<\/li>\n<li>Public consortia and state public consortia with R&#038;D&#038;I activities in Biomedicine or Health Sciences and Technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Other health administration units.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>When the project\u2019s development so requires, companies or other public or private entities interested in the project\u2019s development and outcomes may be involved, provided that such participation does not entail any form of direct assistance to them from the grants that may be awarded under this call for proposals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_titulo_segundo_nivel\"><strong>PI requirements:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<ul>\n<li>Hold a Ph.D.<\/li>\n<li>Be a member of the staff of the applicant organization, as listed above, and have maintained a civil service, statutory, or employment relationship with that organization for at least the entire period between the application deadline and the final decision on the grant.<\/li>\n<li>Not currently participating in an FSE program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For individual, coordinated, or multicenter projects, each application may be submitted by one or two principal investigators (PI and co-PI). In this case, both principal investigators must be on the staff of the applying institution, and in the case of IISs, both principal investigators must be affiliated with that IIS, acting as the point of contact for all purposes (applications submitted by CIBERs are exempt from this requirement). The Co-PI must meet the same requirements and conflict-of-interest rules that apply to PIs and will receive the same academic recognition.  <\/p>\n<p>Special consideration will be given to projects led by two principal investigators who indicate in their application report their intention to initiate a <strong>leadership transition process,<\/strong> with one being a senior researcher and the other a young researcher. In these projects, the co-PI will be the senior researcher, while the PI will be the person to whom the transition is being made. This transition period shall never exceed two consecutive projects, and the application report must explicitly state that this limit will not be exceeded.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_titulo_segundo_nivel\">Requirements for Researchers<\/div>\n<div class=\"convocatoria_apartado_contenido\">\n<p>The remaining <strong>members of the research team<\/strong> must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a formal civil service, statutory, employment, or paid training relationship with any of the entities eligible to apply for this program for at least the entire period between the deadline for submitting applications and the date of the award decision.<\/li>\n<li>The expectation of being appointed or hired by the beneficiary entity as a result of having successfully completed a competitive public recruitment process shall be considered sufficient grounds for affiliation.<\/li>\n<li>In exceptional cases, when their contribution is deemed necessary for the viability of the project, research teams may include personnel who are contractually affiliated with entities not headquartered in Spain (provided such entities are eligible under this call for proposals, as indicated in the previous section), and such personnel may constitute up to 25% of the research team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"color: #003c8c;\">Application<\/h3>\n<p>The form of presentation of the application and other documentation will be exclusively through the ISCIII&#8217;s electronic headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The application forms will require only the signature of the legal representative of the applicant entity, who will collect the signatures of the other interested parties and be responsible for their safekeeping and authenticity.<\/p>\n<p>Applications must be accompanied by the following documentation:<\/p>\n<p><strong>They are an integral part of the application and cannot be amended at a later date:  <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application form.<\/li>\n<li>Research project report in Spanish or English, using exclusively the standardized template corresponding to AES 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae (CVA-ISCIII) in Spanish or English, automatically generated using the FECYT CVN editor or by any institution certified under the FECYT CVN standard that offers the CVA-ISCIII service, for the principal investigator(s).<\/li>\n<li>A doctoral degree or certificate issued by a university, bearing a verifiable signature, that expressly states the date the doctoral degree was awarded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For coordinated, multicenter projects involving multiple participating centers, a complete application must be submitted for each subproject.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition, applications must be accompanied by (documentation that can be corrected):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae (CVA) in Spanish or English, automatically generated using the FECYT curriculum editor or by any institution certified under the FECYT CVN standard that offers the CVA-ISCIII service, for the remaining members of the research team.<\/li>\n<li>For coordinated, multicenter projects involving multiple participating centers, the standard coordination report must also be completed.
