The appointment was made official during the members\u2019 assembly held as part of the society\u2019s 24th Congress, which brought together experts in the field in Salamanca from July 7 to 10. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A conference marked by history and innovation<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Congress of the Spanish Society of Parasitology, which was part of the official activities marking the 500th anniversary of the School of Salamanca, was held at the Hospeder\u00eda Fonseca and was attended by 300 participants.  <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the course of four days, researchers, faculty members, and professionals discussed the current challenges facing parasitology through a program that included plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, and workshops.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new feature of this edition was that all scientific contributions were presented in electronic poster format and were defended orally by their authors, fostering the direct exchange of ideas and scientific discussion among attendees.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the renewal of its board of directors and the appointment of Professor Pedro Fern\u00e1ndez Soto as vice president, SOCEPA concludes a highly successful conference that solidifies Salamanca\u2019s position as a premier venue for scientific excellence and interdisciplinary dialogue.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Spanish Society of Parasitology (SOCEPA)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/socepa.org\/\">SOCEPA is <\/a>a scientific organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of knowledge, research, and teaching in the field of parasitology, bringing together the leading experts and professionals in the field at the national level.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOCEPA traces its origins to the Spanish Association of Parasitologists (APE), which was founded in 2002. This association was established in 1963, and its first bylaws were adopted in 1966.
