SUMMARY:TRANSCAN Joint Call (JTC 2026) under the Europe Partnership
DESCRIPTION:Features\n\nThe European TRANSCAN-4 Partnership has just published its 1st Joint Transnational Call for Research Proposals (JTC 2026) on the following topic: Translational Research on Cancer Metabolism: Multidisciplinary Approaches for Diagnosis and Treatment. \nThe main objective of this call for proposals is to foster new collaborations between researchers and clinicians\, as well as to support original\, high-quality projects with strong translational potential in the field of cancer metabolism. It is expected that the funded projects will contribute significantly to improving our understanding of metabolic abnormalities in cancer and their clinical application. \nRequirements:\nThe call for proposals aims to promote the development of innovative and personalized approaches to the diagnosis\, stratification\, and treatment of cancer\, based on a deeper understanding of the metabolic mechanisms involved in the disease. \nProposals must include at least one of the following areas of focus: \n1. Improving Cancer Diagnosis and Monitoring Through Metabolic Biomarkers \n2. Exploiting Metabolic Vulnerabilities to Improve Precision Medicine \n  \nAspects that are particularly valued: \n\nInterdisciplinary approaches that integrate biology\, medicine\, engineering\, computer science\, physics\, or related disciplines.\nInnovative technologies such as spatial transcriptomics\, single-cell and multi-omics analysis\, artificial intelligence\, liquid biopsy\, radiomics\, and advanced computational methods.\nThe use of organoids\, cancer vaccines\, nanoparticles\, and other advanced biomedical models.\nInvolvement of or consultation with patients and patient organizations during the design and implementation of the project.\n\nThe following will not be eligible for funding: \n\nStudies based exclusively on established cell lines.\nPhase III and IV clinical trials.\nProjects that do not comply with applicable European regulations on state aid.\n\n  \nThis call for proposals is co-financed by the European Union and involves 15 countries and more than 20 funding organizations. \nIn addition\, the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) and the Scientific Foundation of the Association Against Cancer (FCAECC) are participating in this call for proposals as national funding agencies . \nSubmission Deadline\nThe following table lists the different dates: \n  \n\n\n\nPhase\nDate\n\n\n\n\nCall Opens\nMay 20\, 2026\n\n\nDeadline for Pre-Proposals\nJuly 21\, 2026 (12:00 CEST)\n\n\nCall for Full Proposals\nNovember 25\, 2026\n\n\nDeadline for full proposals\nJanuary 13\, 2027 (12:00 CEST)\n\n\nNotification of Preliminary Funding Decisions\nMay 2027\n\n\nExpected project start (also subject to regional/national procedures)\nNovember 2027\n\n\n\nWe recommend that you read all the documents included in this call.
