SUMMARY:PhD Fellowships 2025-3 (Boehringer Ingelheim Fellowships)
DESCRIPTION:Call for Proposals Summary\nThe Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation is offering  fellowships for outstanding young researchers who wish to undertake an ambitious doctoral project in the field of basic biomedical research at a prestigious international laboratory.  \nPhD projects must be experimental\, in the field of basic biomedical research\, and aimed at understanding fundamental biological phenomena in humans and acquiring new scientific knowledge. \nThe grant will provide a monthly stipend to cover salary costs and minor project-related expenses (depending on the country where the fellowship takes place; 2\,000 euros in the case of Spain)\, a family allowance (up to 500 euros per child and/or 200 euros for a spouse)\, and travel expenses for attending conferences\, training sessions\, or scientific collaborations. \n  \nRequirements\n— Be a European citizen working in Europe or abroad; or be a non-European citizen who intends to use the funding to carry out their project in Europe.\n— Have obtained a qualification granting admission to university studies within the last eight years (as of the application deadline: October 1\, 2025).\n— Hold a degree that qualifies the candidate for admission to a doctoral program. Exceptions may be made provided that the candidate can submit proof of eligibility for admission to a doctoral program within four months of the application deadline.\n— You must not have been working on your doctoral dissertation for more than six months. \n  \nDeadline and Submission Procedure\nApplications must be submitted using the online form\, which will be available on the grant’s website one month before October 1\, 2025. \n  \nRequired Documentation\n— Title and abstract of the doctoral project.\n— Project description.\n— Rationale for selecting the host group.\n— Abstract of the master’s thesis (or thesis for a degree required for admission to a doctoral program).\n— List of publications (if applicable).\n— Copies of academic transcripts\, including grades.\n— Copies of academic degrees. \nFor more information\, download the document: How to Write a Research Proposal. \nIn addition\, letters of recommendation must be submitted via email directly by the supervisors\, using the following format: ApplicantFirstName_ApplicantLastName_MSc/PhD/Other\, depending on who wrote the letter. Send them to secretariat@bifons.de.  \n— Doctoral thesis advisor.\n— Master’s thesis advisor\, or equivalent\, if different from the dissertation advisor.\n— If the master’s thesis is not experimental in nature\, a letter from the supervisor of the laboratory where the experimental work was conducted.
