SUMMARY:Knowledge Generation Projects and Associated Pre-Doctoral Grants 2025
DESCRIPTION:Call for Proposals Summary\nThe objective of this call for proposals is to fund research projects aimed at both fostering the generation and significant advancement of scientific knowledge and high-quality research\, and at advancing the search for solutions to societal challenges. In addition\, funding may be provided for activities aimed at training pre-doctoral researchers through the completion of a doctoral dissertation associated with the aforementioned research projects. \nThese grants will fund the following types of projects: \n\n“Non-Targeted Research” Projects. These are projects without a predefined thematic focus\, and their primary objective is to advance knowledge\, regardless of the time frame or scope of application. \n“Applied Research” Projects. These projects are aimed at solving specific problems and are linked to thematic priorities associated with major societal challenges (including health). \n\nWithin the categories listed above\, projects may fall into two types\, depending on the profile of the principal investigator (hereinafter PI) leading the research team: \n\nType A projects\, led by young researchers.\nType B projects\, led by established researchers. Type B projects include:\n\nRTA-type projects\, falling under the “Oriented Research” category\, led by entities that are part of the INIA (CSIC)-CCAA system\, as well as those projects whose objectives are aimed at the diagnosis and control of pests and diseases—in both plant and animal species—that have been detected on Spanish territory for the first time in the last three years.\n\n\n\nInitiatives aimed at training pre-doctoral researchers (PRE-DOCTORAL GRANTS) are intended to fund activities designed to train new doctoral graduates through the completion of a doctoral dissertation associated with a research project funded under this call for proposals\, including funding for the costs of hiring pre-doctoral researchers\, stays at R&D centers\, and tuition fees associated with doctoral studies. Furthermore\, these grants include a postdoctoral orientation period (POP) intended for the professional development and specialization of these researchers\, for a maximum period of 12 months\, provided that the doctoral degree is obtained during the project’s implementation period. \n  \nRequirements\nThe requirements for applicants\, the IP\, and the consortium can be found at the following link: \nhttps://www.aei.gob.es/convocatorias/buscador-convocatorias/proyectos-generacion-conocimiento-2025/convocatoria \n  \nRequired Documentation\nThe Principal Investigator (PI) must attach the following required documentation to the electronic application form; this documentation is chttps://www.aei.gob.es/convocatorias/buscador-calls-for-proposals/projects-knowledge-generation-2025/call-for-proposals—as an integral part and the minimum content of the application: \n\nScientific and Technical Report on the Project:\n\nProposal details.\nRationale and Novelty of the Proposal.\nObjectives\, methodology\, and work plan.\nExpected impact of the results.\nJustification for the requested budget.\nTraining capacity.\nSpecific conditions for the implementation of certain projects.\n\n\nAbbreviated curriculum vitae (CVA) for the project’s principal investigators (PIs)\, to be submitted using the standard template available on the Agency’s website or the FECYT standard template. The CVA must be submitted in English or Spanish\, although submission in English is recommended for all projects. \n\n  \nApplication Submission and Deadline:\nApplications must be submitted electronically through the application portal\, which will be accessed by the IP\, and through the electronic signature and registration portal\, which will be accessed by the person acting as the legal representative of the applicant entity. Both portals will be available on the Ministry’s electronic portal. \nThe application period will begin on November 20 and end on December 16\, 2025\, at 2:00 p.m.
