SUMMARY:EP BrainHealth Partnership Call 1 & Call 2
DESCRIPTION:Features\nThe first joint transnational calls for proposals under the future BrainHealth partnership have been published. \nThe goal of these calls for proposals is to promote research into the biological\, social\, and environmental factors that influence brain health over the course of a person’s life; there are two calls for proposals. \n\nEP BrainHealth Call 1: Focused on Neurological\, Mental\, and Sensory Disorders\nEP BrainHealth Call 2: Focused on the Field of Neurodegeneration\n\n  \nThese calls for proposals are co-financed by the European Union and involve more than 30 countries and more than 35 funding organizations. \nIn addition\, the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) participates in these calls for proposals as the national funding agency. \nRequirements\nProposals must be interdisciplinary and address at least two of the three factors listed below: \n\n\nBiological factors\, e.g.\, genetics\, epigenetics\, -omics\, neuroplasticity\, inflammation\, infection\, synaptogenesis\, neural circuits\, vascular factors\, sensory impairment\, comorbidities. \n\n\nLifestyle and social factors\, e.g.\, exercise/physical activity\, nutrition\, sleep\, smoking\, alcohol and drug use\, work (income\, employment)\, background/socioeconomic status\, race/ethnicity\, sex and gender\, education\, safety\, social interactions (family/friends)\, access to health care\, stress\, trauma\, migration. \n\n\nEnvironmental factors\, e.g.\, pollution/pollutants\, urbanization\, disasters\, pandemics\, wars/conflicts\, climate change\, microbiota\, nature. \n\n\nIn addition\, applications must address at least two of the following aspects: \n\n\nMechanisms of action of the identified factors. \n\n\nEarly detection\, diagnosis\, and prognosis are linked to the identified factors. \n\n\nPrevention\, treatments\, interventions\, technological development\, care\, and support related to the identified factors. \n\n\n  \nCall 1: Biological\, social\, and environmental factors that influence the trajectory of brain health across the lifespan— in the field of neurological\, mental\, and sensory disorders \nThe objective of this call for proposals is to facilitate multinational\, collaborative\, and interdisciplinary research that addresses critical translational issues. Applications for this call must address how biological\, social\, and environmental factors influence the course of neurological\, mental\, and sensory disorders throughout the life course. \nCall 2: Biological\, social\, and environmental factors that influence the trajectory of brain health across the lifespan – in the field of neurodegeneration \nThe objective of this call for proposals is to facilitate multinational\, collaborative\, and interdisciplinary research that addresses critical translational issues. Proposals submitted in response to this call must address how biological\, social\, and environmental factors influence the course of neurodegenerative disorders throughout the life cycle. \nImportant to note: You may not submit the same proposal to both calls for proposals under the EP BrainHealth program. \nSubmission deadline.\nThe following table lists the different dates: \n\n\n\nPhase\nDate\n\n\n\n\nCall 1 and Call 2 are open\nJanuary 8\, 2026\n\n\nDeadline for Pre-Proposals\nMarch 10\, 2026\, (2:00 p.m. CET)\n\n\nCall for Full Proposals\nEnd of May 2026\n\n\nDeadline for full proposals\nJune 30\, 2026\, (2:00 p.m. CET)\n\n\nPeer Review Panel meeting to evaluate the full proposals\nSeptember 2026\n\n\nFinal funding decision by the CSC and start of national administrative procedures\nEarly to mid-2027\n\n\n\n  \n
