DESCRIPTION:Features\nThe DKMS John Hansen Research Grant provides funding for research into hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cell therapy for hematological diseases. The application period for the 2027 grant is now open.  \nThe DKMS John Hansen Research Grant supports promising young scientists conducting research in the field of blood cancer\, with a particular focus on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cell therapy for hematological diseases. Projects primarily focused on product development\, commercialization\, or other commercial activities are not eligible.  \nThe grant may cover\, among other things\, consumables\, the principal investigator’s (PI) own position\, a Ph.D. student dedicated to the project\, technicians who devote at least 30% of their time to the project\, relevant training\, and certain publication costs. Up to EUR 2\,500 per year can be used for travel\, lodging\, and registration fees for a scientific conference to present project results\, and up to EUR 10\,000 may be allocated for reasonable publication costs\, including open-access fees.   \nThe grant lasts up to 3 years. Each annual funding period runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. The funding amounts to up to EUR 240\,000\, with a maximum of EUR 80\,000 per year.   \nRequirements:\n\nApplicants from all countries are welcome to apply.\nApplicants must have earned a doctoral degree (PhD\, MD\, or equivalent) in a field relevant to the grant within the 10 years preceding the start of the call for proposals.\nApplicants must appoint a supervisor\, ideally a senior scientist at the host institution with expertise relevant to the proposed research.\n\nHow to apply\nApplicants must submit: \n\ninformation about the applicant;\na description of the research project; and\na budget plan\, following the application instructions.\n\nApplications must be submitted via email to grant@dkms.org by November 16\, 2026\, at 11:59 p.m. (Central European Time).
