SUMMARY:Call for Applications for the 2026 AECC Chairs
DESCRIPTION:Purpose and Objectives of the Call for Proposals\nThe purpose of this call for proposals is to improve the humanization of care and the comprehensive approach to cancer patients and their caregivers at all stages of the disease through financial support for university chairs. within the strategic framework of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (hereinafter\, the Association). To this end\, the call will foster connections between the academic community and healthcare professionals\, through the development of training\, outreach\, and/or knowledge-generation activities\, reinforcing both the humanization of healthcare professionals’ training and care settings\, with the ultimate goal of improving care for cancer patients.   \nAECC Chairs must be carried out entirely at Spanish universities or at Spanish healthcare institutions affiliated with Spanish universities\, whether public or private (hereinafter\, “Center”). \nOnly applications whose scope is focused on improving the humanization of cancer prevention\, cancer patient care\, and patient well-being will be accepted. Applications for basic research that fall under the scope of other grants offered by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (hereinafter\, the Foundation) will not be accepted. We recommend consulting the Foundation’s grant catalog.\nThis call for proposals involves the AECC Patient Advocacy Program\, composed of cancer patients and their caregivers.   \nAll aspects of the call for proposals will be managed through the Foundation’s grant management platform (Grant Management System\, hereinafter the GMS platform)\, where you can find the relevant documentation. \n\n\nScope\nThrough this call for proposals\, the Foundation offers funding to research and/or teaching staff to carry out the chair’s project through activities that promote the generation and transfer of knowledge\, as well as training and/or outreach activities. \n  \nRequirements\nApplicants for AECC Chairs must meet the following requirements: \n— Hold a Ph.D.\n— Have a contractual relationship with the University as university staff and/or faculty for at least the duration of the chair’s project.\n— Have proven experience in the field of the proposed chair project.\n— Develop the program in collaboration with a provincial office and/or AECC Corporate Services. \n  \nFeatures of the Proposal\nThe project must have a clear impact on improving disease prevention\, well-being\, and the humanization of care for cancer patients and their caregivers at all stages of the disease. \nIn all cases\, a description must be provided of the reasons why this project is of interest and strategic importance to the Association and to cancer patients. \n\n\n\nFeatures of the Grant\nDuration \nThe grant will last for a maximum of 3 years from the start date specified in the agreement. \nThis period may be extended for up to one additional year\, provided that the annual project monitoring and financial monitoring have been satisfactorily completed\, and the impact on improving prevention\, well-being\, and/or patient-centered care for cancer patients—as justified in the initial proposal—has been achieved. \n  \nFinancial Assistance \nThis grant provides a maximum total of 50\,000 euros (gross) per year to carry out the project. \nThe eligible expenses are detailed in the Annex “Guide to Eligibility and Justification of Expenses\,” available in the documentation section of the call for proposals. \n  \nSubmission of Applications\nApplicants must register on the GMS platform at https://grants-fundacioncientifica-aecc.smartsimple.ie/s_Login.jsp\n.
