SUMMARY:ASTRAZENECA FOUNDATION. Call for Applications: Young Researchers 2025
DESCRIPTION:Features\nAstraZeneca launches the 2025 Call for Young Researchers with the aim of awarding four prizes—one for each subject area—in the form of financial grants to help promote research among groups from different autonomous communities. The program is structured as a networked research project\, guiding their research activities toward common goals that will yield results applicable to the general population. \nProjects must fall within one of the research lines included in the following thematic areas: \n\nCardiovascular\, Renal\, and Metabolic: \n\nChronic Kidney Disease and Hyperkalemia.\nHeart Failure.\nType 2 Diabetes Mellitus.\nAmyloidosis-Associated Polyneuropathy (ATTR-PN).\n\n\n\n  \n\nOncology\, Precision Medicine\, and Immuno-oncology:\n\nLung Cancer.\nOvarian Cancer.\nBreast Cancer.\nChronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.\nGastrointestinal Cancer.\n\n\n\n  \n\nRespiratory and Immunology:\n\nChronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).\nAsthma.\nLupus.\nEosinophilic Inflammatory Diseases.\n\n\n\n  \n\nVaccines and Immunotherapy:\n\nCOVID-19.\nPediatric Flu.\nRespiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).\nMetapneumovirus.\n\n\n\n  \nAs for the Honorary Award for Excellence in Scientific Achievement and Outstanding Contribution to Public Health\, the funds will be allocated to the project chosen by the award-winning researcher or healthcare professional. \n  \nRequirements:\nThis call for proposals is aimed at networked research projects comprising at least three research groups\, led by researchers born in 1980 or later\, whose scientific output indicates they have the potential to become highly competitive groups; these groups must submit a single proposal outlining a distinctive and innovative course of action. \nResearch groups must be organized into a network coordinated by one of the participating principal investigators and must include groups from at least three different autonomous communities. \nTherefore\, the networks must consist of at least three research groups belonging to public or private healthcare or university institutions\, public research organizations\, or other research centers located throughout the country and in at least three different autonomous communities. There is no limit on the number of groups that can form the network\, provided that each group meets the requirements set forth in the guidelines. \nThe principal investigators of the participating research groups\, including the coordinator\, may submit only one proposal for a network project. \nIP Requirements:\n\nThe network project coordinator must also meet each of the following requirements: \n\nBe a civil servant\, a statutory employee\, or a contract employee at one of the eligible entities.\nHave served as the principal investigator on at least one research project funded through competitive grant programs\, or have been a recipient of a human resources grant that includes funding for a research project.\nNot be a coordinator or principal investigator on any of the network projects awarded in the 8th call for entries for the Young Researchers Awards.\n\n\n  \nHow to apply\nRequired documentation: \n\nGrant Application Form\, in accordance with the provided template\, signed by the coordinator of the network research project\, as well as by the legal representative of the applicant entity to which the coordinator is affiliated (coordinating entity) or\, where applicable\, the entity managing that entity’s funds.\nResearch Project Proposal\, in accordance with the provided template. The project proposal must include\, among other things\, the objectives and expected results\, the coordination plan\, a description of the proposed work plan for carrying out the research project being submitted\, the potential for application in clinical practice\, and the requested budget broken down by type of expense. \nStandardized Curriculum Vitae (CVN) or Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae (CVA)\, generated using the online editor\, for the project coordinator as well as for each of the leaders of the research groups participating in the networked project.\nOptionally\, a letter of support issued by a patient organization outlining the expected impact of the research project’s results on healthcare\, as well as improvements in patients’ health and quality of life. The letter of support will not be a mandatory requirement\, but it will be taken into account in the evaluation of the proposal. \n\n  \nSubmission deadline.\nThe application period will run from March 19\, 2025\, until midnight on May 15\, 2025. The AstraZeneca Foundation will only accept applications that are fully completed and submitted online within the specified period. \n
