SUMMARY:AES 2026 - Miguel Servet Contracts 2026
DESCRIPTION:Purpose\nThe purpose of this initiative is\, on the one hand\, to hire researchers with a proven track record in research by providing additional funding for the research activities they carry out and\, on the other hand\, to provide grants to help these individuals secure permanent positions at these centers once the term of this contract has ended. The purpose of this initiative is to enable them to acquire the skills and competencies necessary to obtain a permanent position in the Spanish National Health System (SNS).  \nThe purpose of these contracts is to: \n\nIncrease the number of full-time researchers in health sciences and technologies at National Health System (SNS) institutions to enhance the potential for transferring knowledge to clinical practice.\nTo promote the professional development of researchers in biomedicine and health sciences at National Health System (SNS) centers.\n\n  \nThe duration of the aid will be divided into two phases: \n\nFirst phase\, lasting at least three years\, with the goal of consolidating the skills acquired during the postdoctoral training period.\nThe second phase will last a maximum of two years. To qualify for this second phase\, the researcher may\, upon completion of the second year of the first phase\, undergo an evaluation of their scientific and technical work\, which will be conducted in accordance with the criteria for R3 researchers—established researchers. If the evaluation is positive\, in accordance with the aforementioned criteria\, the researcher will advance to a phase of the program designed to help them acquire the skills and competencies necessary to secure a permanent position.  \n\n  \nRequirements\n\n\n\n\nThe following may be eligible entities: \n\nHealth research institutes accredited by ministerial order (IIS).\nPublic healthcare entities and institutions that provide clinical care: hospitals\, primary care centers\, and other healthcare facilities not included in the preceding categories that hold a healthcare operating license issued by the competent authority.\nPublic health entities and institutions without a health activity license\, but with demonstrable R+D+I activity in the area of knowledge of Public Health.\nPrivate healthcare entities and institutions\, with a healthcare activity license\, linked or contracted to the SNS.\n\n\nCandidate requirements:\n\nResearchers who meet any of the following criteria are eligible to apply: \n\nHave earned a doctoral degree between January 1\, 2014\, and December 31\, 2021.\nWhether they have completed or are currently enjoying their third year of the Sara Borrell Contract.\nWhether they have completed the Río Hortega research training program or are currently in their second year and have earned their doctoral degree.\n\nIn the latter two cases\, candidates must have completed the training programs from which they come (Sara Borrell or Río Hortega) by the time they begin the contract covered by this grant. \nWhen calculating the period indicated in the previous paragraph\, duly justified interruptions (maternity\, paternity\, long-term illness\, etc.) will be excluded\, provided they occurred between January 1\, 2014\, and December 31\, 2021. \nThose who are currently receiving a Miguel Servet Contract at the time of application\, or those who have previously completed one\, are not eligible for the grants. \n\n\n\n\n  \nApplication\n\n\n\n\nApplications and all other required documentation must be submitted exclusively through the ISCIII’s online portal.   \nThe application forms will require only the signature of the legal representative of the applicant entity\, who will collect the signatures of the other interested parties and be responsible for their safekeeping and authenticity. \nApplications must be accompanied by the following documentation: \nThe following are an integral part of the application:   \n\nProposal report in Spanish or English using the standard form for AES 2026.\nAbbreviated Curriculum Vitae (CVA-ISCIII)\, in Spanish or English\, automatically generated by the CVN editor or by any institution certified under the FECYT’s CVN standard that offers the CVA-ISCIII service\, for the candidate.\n\nIn addition\, the applications must be accompanied by (documentation that can be corrected): \n\nCopy of valid passport\, only in the case of foreign citizens not residing in Spanish territory.\nDoctoral degree or academic certificate that explicitly states the date on which the doctoral degree was awarded (date of the doctoral dissertation defense).\nDocumentary evidence of any interruptions\, if applicable.\nIf you have completed an FSE program abroad\, an FSE certificate that has been accredited or recognized by the competent authority.\nA standardized document signed by the legal representative of the applicant institution and by the competent authority of the Autonomous Community\, in cases where the creation of permanent positions is subject to that authority’s approval\, formally committing to the creation of the corresponding permanent statutory or indefinite-term position linked to the research activity funded by the ISCIII\, so that it can be filled immediately upon the expiration of the Miguel Servet Contract.\nFull text of the selected publications\, unless they are open access.\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nCall for Applications Guidelines\nThe complete terms and conditions of the call for applications can be viewed by clicking  here.
