SUMMARY:5th Call for Applications for Health Sciences Research Grants - Alimerka Foundation
DESCRIPTION:Purpose\nThe purpose of this call for proposals is to promote research that may benefit patients\, their families\, the scientific community\, and society at large.\nBased on this premise\, special emphasis will be placed on the social impact of eligible projects\, through responsible research that addresses the needs and expectations of the various stakeholders in the health care system. \n  \nCategories\nThe Alimerka Foundation’s research grants are intended to fund research projects with a distinctly translational focus that promote the development of personalized precision medicine in any of the following areas of clinical research: \nArea 1. ONCOLOGY \nSubareas: \n\nCancer Genomics\nCancer Diagnosis and Treatment\n\n  \nArea 2. NUTRITION \nSubareas: \n\nNutrition Throughout the Stages of Life\nNutrition and Cardiometabolic Diseases\nFood Allergies and Intolerances\n\nOne project will be selected from each area\, and each will receive 20\,000 euros in funding. If\, following the evaluation of applications\, one of the two areas is declared void (see point 9 of the Call for Proposals)\, two projects from the same research area may be funded. Applications that do not fall within the specified research areas\, or that are aimed at studying drugs that are already on the market or in development\, will be excluded. \n  \nApplicant Profile\nGrants may be applied for by research teams or groups conducting their activities at research institutes and centers\, universities\, hospitals\, associations\, or foundations in the field of health or research—whether public or private—that have their registered office in the autonomous communities of Asturias and Castile and León. \nProjects must be submitted by a single principal investigator who is affiliated with the applicant institution for the duration of the project. The remaining team members or collaborating researchers may be affiliated with other research centers or universities in any country. \nResearchers applying for this call may submit only one project\, which must be innovative and represent an advance in research within the corresponding field of study. Projects funded through this call may receive funding from other sources\, which must be specified on the application form. Principal investigators and research groups that received grants from the 4th Alimerka Foundation Call for Proposals for Research in Health Sciences\, in its 2025 edition\, are not eligible to apply for this call; at least one call cycle must elapse between the receipt of the grant and the submission of a new funding application. \n  \nApplication\nTo apply for the grant\, interested individuals must submit an application package\, written in Spanish using the Arial font\, 11-point size\, and 1.15 line spacing\, that includes the following: \n— Application summary\, following the standard format included in Appendix 1\, with general information about the project\, the Principal Investigator (PI)\, the team\, and the institution where the research will be conducted. \n— Curriculum Vitae of the principal investigator and the team members who will actively participate in the development of the proposed project\, prepared using the standard form included in Annex 2\, and which must address the following aspects (one form per person): \n– General information: personal information\, current and previous professional status\, academic background\, stays at foreign institutions\, and areas of research. \n– A brief summary of the curriculum vitae that includes references to scientific contributions\, contributions to society\, the training and development of research teams\, the creation of companies\, publishing activities\, research\, or other relevant contributions. \n– Scientific contributions\, including a summary of notable publications\, conferences\, and research projects\, as well as knowledge transfer activities and the application of research findings. \n— A scientific report explaining the proposed project\, in accordance with the content set forth in Annex 1\, addressing the following sections and not exceeding 12 pages in length: \n\nDescription of the project’s objectives\, milestones\, and expected results\nProject Development: Methodology and Work Plan \nSocial Impact and Potential Benefits\nResearch Team\nDissemination of Results\nFunding Received for the Project\nJustification for the Aid\n\n  \nCompatibility\nThis aid will be compatible with other aid granted for the same project or action when such aid measures relate to different eligible costs\, or when the aid measures correspond in whole or in part to the same eligible costs and their cumulative amount does not exceed the amount of those costs. \nIf the applicant research group finds itself in any of these situations\, this information must be provided in detail in Section 6\, “Project Funding\,” of the application form (Annex I). \n\nSubmission Deadline\nThe application period will run from Wednesday \, April 29\, to Monday\, May 25\, 2026\, at 2:00 p . m.
