SUMMARY:13th Call for Applications for GILEAD Scholarships for Biomedical Research in HIV\, Hematology-Oncology\, and Medical Oncology
DESCRIPTION:Purpose\nThe 13th Call for Applications for Gilead Scholarships for Biomedical Research in HIV\, Hematology-Oncology\, and Medical Oncology aims to promote the development of clinical research in these areas in our country. \n  \nEligibility Requirements for Beneficiaries\nThe following are eligible for the grants included in this Call for Proposals: research project proposals carried out within Spain at Spanish healthcare facilities and submitted by nonprofit organizations and entities eligible for patronage listed in Articles 2 and 16 of Law 49/2002\, of December 23\, on the tax regime for nonprofit entities and tax incentives for patronage\, provided they meet the requirements set forth in Article 3 of said law. In particular\, and taking into account the provisions of the aforementioned regulations\, as well as the scope of this Call for Grant Applications\, the following entities are included:  \n\nThe Foundations\nAssociations recognized as being of public benefit.\nFederations and associations of nonprofit organizations.\nPublic and private universities that meet the requirements.\nPublic Research Agencies under the General State Administration.\n\nHealth Research Institutes and Public Research Consortia affiliated with Public Research Organizations in the field of health sciences may also be eligible for the grants. In such cases\, the legal or regulatory requirements applicable to those entities will be taken into account.  \nGrants may not be awarded to individuals\, but only to the entities listed above\, which must submit the documentation specified in the grant award procedure described in the “Grant Award and Notification” section of this call for applications. \n  \nCharacteristics of Research Groups\nAll proposals submitted must fall into one of the following categories of research groups: \n— Groups led by researchers born in 1986 or later\, with a track record of scientific output that suggests they have the potential to become highly competitive groups; these groups must submit proposals for distinctive and innovative research initiatives that do not involve the breakup of preexisting groups. \n— Regular groups (led by researchers born before 1986) that must meet the general conditions set forth in the various sections\, with no additional specific requirements. \n  \nRequirements for Research Project Proposals\nNationwide research programs in the fields of HIV\, hematology-oncology\, and medical oncology\, with a duration of no more than 24 months and conducted at Spanish healthcare facilities. \nEligible areas of research: \nProposals submitted under this call for proposals may only pertain to research projects conducted within the national territory and with an implementation period not exceeding 24 months. This period will begin on the date the Grant Agreement for activities of general interest is signed\, as referred to in the “Grant Award and Notification” section of this website.  \nProjects must fall within one of the research areas defined below: \n\nHIV: Research to improve understanding among the following populations of people living with HIV (PLHIV)\nResearch on innovative care strategies that reduce the frequency of hospital visits or optimize the use of healthcare system resources\nResearch proposals that analyze the needs and the psychosocial\, individual\, and structural factors that influence access to\, non-initiation of\, adherence to\, or discontinuation (DC) of PrEP\nHematology-Oncology: B-Cell Lymphomas (Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma\, Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma\, Mantle Cell Lymphoma\, Follicular Lymphoma)\nMedical Oncology (Solid Tumors)\n\n  \nExclusion of projects: \n— To evaluate drugs that are on the market or in development\, regardless of whether they are owned by GILEAD\, another pharmaceutical company\, or another entity\, organization\, or academic institution.\n— Submitted by a researcher who was a member of the research team for a project that received funding in the previous year’s call for proposals. \n— Submitted by a researcher who is awaiting the submission of the final scientific and/or financial report for a Gilead grant that has already ended. \n  \nWays to Participate\nResearch project proposals may be submitted in one of the following formats: \n\nSingle-center study: a project submitted by a single beneficiary applicant in accordance with the provisions of Rule 2 of this call for proposals\, and conducted at a single clinical care center. Such projects may involve subcontracting; the grant recipient must ensure that subcontracting is carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. \nMulticenter study: a project proposed by a single beneficiary applicant in accordance with the provisions of Rule 2 of this call for proposals and conducted at multiple clinical care centers. The coordinating center must list the participating centers in the application. \n\n\n  \nNumber of projects to be submitted\nA maximum of two projects may be submitted per therapeutic area and healthcare facility. A healthcare facility is defined as the one to which the project’s principal investigator is affiliated. Each principal investigator may submit only one research project proposal.   \n  \nMaximum number of grants to be awarded\nAt most\, only one project may be awarded per therapeutic area and per healthcare facility. A healthcare facility is defined as the one to which the project’s principal investigator is affiliated.\nTwo projects from the category of “research groups led by researchers born in 1986 or later” will be selected for funding ; these will be the projects that have received the highest scores \, regardless of the research area.  \nSubsequently\, the remaining projects will be selected based on the scores they receive and the availability of funding by research area\, regardless of the principal investigator’s age. \n  \nFunding\nA variable amount that may not exceed 55\,000 euros per project. This grant is compatible with other grants\, subsidies\, income\, or resources of a public or private nature.  \n  \nDeadline and Submission of Applications\nApplications to participate in this call for proposals must be submitted online through this website from June 1 to June 30\, 2026.   www.BecasGileadInvestigacion.es\, \nFor this Thirteenth Call for Proposals \, all information must be submitted in English (project proposal and researchers’ CVs); therefore\, projects submitted in any language other than English will not be evaluated. \nEach principal investigator may submit only one research project proposal. A maximum of two projects may be submitted per therapeutic area and healthcare facility. A “healthcare facility” is defined as the facility to which the project’s principal investigator is affiliated.   \nAt most\, only one project may be awarded per therapeutic area and per healthcare facility to which the project’s principal investigator is affiliated. \nFor each application\, applicants must indicate the category of research group in which they participate (a group led by researchers born in 1986 or later\, or a group led by researchers born before 1986). \nThe information required for an application to be evaluated is as follows: \n\nResearch Project Report in accordance with the provided template (in English).\nCurriculum Vitae (CVA-ISCIII)\, automatically generated by the CVN editor (http://cvn.fecyt.es/editor) or from any institution certified under the FECYT’s CVN standard that offers the CVA-ISCIII service\, for the principal investigator and all other collaborators (in English).\nAuthorization from the director of the healthcare facility where the project will be carried out\, in accordance with the provided template.\nArticles of Incorporation of the applicant organization.\nPower of representation of the entity’s signatory.\nRegistration of said entity in the appropriate registry.\nCertificate of Public Benefit Status for Associations.\n\n  \nTERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS \n  \n
